MFA  

This internationally recognized 2-day 'first aid' course is actually a 'must' for everyone.

We are certified by and affiliated with the KVBE (Kingdom Association for BHV and first aid instructors). So you are in good hands with us to refresh your skills again, there are a number of new skills that will be covered, according to the XABCD method, which you will certainly benefit from as an outdoor instructor and wilderness guide.

Costs: € 220,- Including CPR, MFA exam and certification.
Day 1: 10am-6pm
Day 2: 09:00-16:00 / 17:00

MFA replay
A repeat training of 1 day, to keep the MFA certificate 'up to date'.
Costs: €115
10am-5pm.

– Good clothing and footwear.
– An old T-shirt (may break)
– Waterproof fine marker

Wilderness & Remote First Aid Level 1

A valid MFA (or equivalent) certificate is required to obtain the WRFA certificate.

The Wilderness & Remote First Aid course is for anyone who ventures off the beaten track.

WRFA  This course lasts 2 days (16 to 18 hours). After successful completion of the course, one earns a certificate WRFA from the Voshaar.
The certificate is valid for 2 years.
Day 1: 10.00 -18.00 (ex evening study)
Day 2: 09:00 - 17:00 / 18:00

Costs: € 250,- pp

WRFA Repeat
Two days of the full course to keep the WRFA certificate up to date.
Repetition is necessary once every two years.

10.00-17.00 / 18.00 hrs.

This Wilderness First Aid course is hands on and scenario based (there are no written tests, only practical tests of knowledge). The course will begin with a review and assessment of first aid knowledge. After the initial assessment the instructors will work to alter the course to suit the level of the participants, while still meeting the requirements of the certifying agency. Topics to be covered are as follows:

Sprains
Diabetes
Dislocations
Severe Bleeds Burns
Open and closed fractures
Abdominal injuries
Head and spinal injury
Chest injuries, including breathing emergencies
Hypothermia, and other environmental injuries
Eye injuries
allergies
Scene survey
primary survey
secondary survey
emergency shelter
Improvised stretchers
Team care
patient advocacy
Multiple casualty management
Critical incident stress
fire lighting

Don't be worried of this sounds like a lot to cover in two days. We use teachable moments throughout the scenarios and debriefings after the scenarios to be sure that everyone understands what was done well and what can be improved on. The scenarios will become progressively more difficult, with the most difficult being the final scenario of the course. Evaluation is an ongoing process, so no need to be stressed out about a final exam.

AWRFA Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid Level 2 and Level 3
These are 6 day (Level 1) or 12 day (Level 2) 'hands-on' courses.
These courses are currently only available through our MBO and Wilderness Totaal courses

Materials (WFA, AWRFA): Participants should provide appropriate clothing and footwear as most of the course will take place outdoors. Other matters that the participants must take care of themselves: – Pen and paper – Knife (preferably with a fixed blade) – Duck tape – Backpack (you) – Fire stick – Details of first aid diplomas and related certificates – Food and drink.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
