Wilderness Leader-Interpretive Hiking Guide

The Wilderness Leader training is mainly focused on guiding hiking trips with a focus on nature. Guiding groups and how to deal with topics in the field. Teaching and leading, safety and also preparing trips and (day) hikes.

The course must be completed before December 31 of the academic year.

After completing 'Wilderness Leader' you can guide in many different areas of the world, including Canada's Rocky Mountain National Parks (Jasper, Banff, Kootenay, Yoho).

Participants must be proficient in the English language.

Medical First Aid  2 days,
Wilderness & Remote First Aid 2 days ((Medic First Aid must be completed before WRFA)
– Fire, shelter, map, compass, GPS
– Flora & Fauna
– IGA Apprentice Interpretive Guide 2 days
– Group management and trip planning
– Online Instruction Videos  
– Predator Safety
– Five days French Alps in summer. Focus on Nature & Wildlife, orientation and Interpretation.
– Online course Mountains 101 (12 lessons) Recommended to do before the IGA course
Online Course Flora & Fauna

Cost: € 1790,-
(excluding travel, accommodation costs, insurance and IGA membership)
Overnight stays at the Voshaar (camping) are included.
Overnight stays in France: €10 to €15 per person per night.

Theory material:
After registration you will receive the login code for our online learning environment.
You must purchase the Wilderness Manual 'Tracks of the White Wolf' yourself.

– Medic First Aid: Theory and Practice
– Wilderness First Aid: Practice
– Orientation
– Mountains 101 After each lesson there is a test
– Alps preparation theory / project
– Presenting, teaching and leading/guiding practice
– IGA: Theory exam
– Predator Safety: Theory exam

All of the above exams must be sufficient. For MFA, WFA, Predator Safety and IGA a resit is possible.

No course fee will be refunded upon cancellation. We do think solution-oriented in case of injuries, illness or other serious circumstances)
